Volunteers for Bunkasai

Hi fellow JETs,
Finding yourself missing autumn in Japan?  Feeling a bit nostalgic for your old school?  I have the perfect event for you!
Come volunteer at the Japanese Language School Bunkasai (Cultural Festival), at Medford High School on October 27 (Saturday), from 12:30 – 2:30 PM.  For the past 5 years, NEJETAA has sent some volunteers to help out, and although I can’t attend this year, I would love for this partnership to continue.
Most years we help out with traditional Japanese mini-games for the kids. There will also be displays by the students, goodies at the bake sale beforehand, and a demonstration by the judo school that produced a gold medalist at this year’s London Olympics. It’s a low-pressure and fun way to reconnect with a Japanese school.
Please RSVP if you’d like to attend – I will put you in touch with our contact at the school.  No Japanese language skills required.
Thank you!!

About JLS:
About Bunkasai:
A Bunkasai is a traditional Japanese school event that showcases various aspects of Japanese culture.  The PTA at JLS, which accommodates children from K-12 of all levels of Japanese ability, runs the event for their students every year.  This year’s program will feature traditional Japanese children’s games, activities (calligraphy, origami, etc.), a bake sale, and more.
Date: Saturday, Oct  27
Hours: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.  We may be invited to attend the bake sale as well, which starts at 11 AM and cleans out fast!!
Location: Medford High School

Sub-Chapter events: Hosting outside of Boston

The NEJETAA Board would like to take the opportunity to remind all of the members across New England about hosting your own Sub-Chapter Events. While we do our best to organize fun events for as many people as possible, we understand that accommodating all of our members from six states is a bit challenging.
For those of you who want to be very active in the JET Alumni Community, but find yourselves a bit far from the Boston home-base, we encourage you to reach out to each other and organize great events. NEJETAA can help advertise and support these events with our network and budget.
If you wish to plan and host an event for your fellow alumni please contact either Kasey, Social Chair (social at nejetaa dot com) or Jay, VP (vicepres at nejetaa dot com).

JLPT registration deadline Oct 2
